Staff Infection: Octobeard!
For those of you not in the loop, Octobeard is an annual celebration of manliness and facial hair (seriously). It's pretty much an excuse for guys everywhere to not shave for the entire month of October. While my own beard growing abilities are severely limited, it got me thinking. Being that I work exclusively with women here at Green Light Go, I can safely say that I can grow the most impressive beard in the office, though that isn't saying much at all.
So, even if I can't grow a beard that will rival Sam Beam's or William Fitzsimmons' (yet), I'd still like to play my small part in ushering in Octobeard 2011. Considering the alarming and impressive amount of beards in indie music nowadays, what better way to commemorate the occasion than with a playlist of great musicians sporting great beards?
So, I'll leave you with this glorious beard and my playlist celebrating 14 of my favorite bearded musicians (sorry, no ZZ Top). You can listen to it here on Spotify.
- The Black Keys, "Tighten Up"
- Band of Horses, "Blue Beard"
- Iron And Wine, "Boy With a Coin"
- The Roots, "The Fire"
- Ray LaMontagne, "You Are The Best Thing"
- Foo Fighters, "Rope"
- Fleet Foxes, "Montezuma"
- TV On The Radio, "Will Do"
- Manchester Orchestra, "Simple Math"
- Leopold and His Fiction, "Lion's Share"
- My Morning Jacket, "Gideon"
- MSTRKRFT, "Easy Love"
- William Fitzsimmons, "Funeral Dress"
- Bon Iver, "Perth"
Happy Octobeard everyone!
Every week a different Green Light Go staff member will write about what bands have infected their ears for the week and give you an opportunity to hear it for yourself.
