The Cover Letter Releases New Indie Rock Single, “Josephine”

The Cover Letter announces the emotionally charged single, “Josephine,” off the upcoming EP, Cities Made of Sand. The album, due out February 17, was recorded at Congress House Studios and mastered by Mark Hallman (Heartless Bastards, Brandi Carlile, Jimmy Dale Gilmore). “Josephine” is available as an approved downloadable mp3.

“Josephine” is a song meant for a rainy day. The intimate interplay between guarded acoustic guitar parts rests gently between Jacob Shipman and Chelsea Barbo’s vocals before the triumphant roar of the chorus. The song feels right at home on an album the band wrote as personal liberation. “Josephine” couples bombastic drums with other melodic intricacies like tempo changes and a bluesy harmonica solo. The band explains, “We spend every day trying to put the puzzle of our lives together. This song is about realizing that you may never find the missing piece. But we find inspiration and beauty in that.”

When he’s not playing a show or practicing with his band Go Tiger, Go! he can be found at one of Detroit’s best new restaurants or taking in the sights and sounds that the area has to offer. He loves running, coffee houses, playing with puppies, and the occasional vortex of video games.
