Scott Fab Announces April 21 Leave My Friends Album Release

The upcoming release from Scott FabLeave My Friends, captures Midwest desolation on the bones of an acoustic guitar. The album comforts and soothes with the simple relatability of melody and emotive vocals. Leave My Friends, recorded at Big Sky Recording (The Electric Six) in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is due out on April 21. The first single “Leave My Friends” is available as an approved downloadable mp3.

Leave My Friends puts all of Fab’s vulnerabilities on display, but confronts them with an honest storytelling that brings to life the calming crackle of a turntable. He writes mostly on acoustic guitar, reaching around for a melody sturdy enough to hang lyrics on. The album was recorded over the course of a year, one day per month at a time. Always open to trying different approaches, Fab wrote “Sun Turns Down” while riding his bike in Northern Michigan and transposed it once he was back home. Just like the changing of the seasons, the album finds an ebb and flow with a single string of consciousness.

The single, “Leave My Friends” was inspired by a moving experience. A benefit concert was organized for a local musician who had his home broken into and had several personally restored vintage instruments stolen. Fab explains, “I was an acquaintance to few and a stranger to most in attendance that evening. What I observed that night was a profound sense of the value of friendship. As much as this person had lost, he had an abundance of friends worth more than any collection of guitars could ever afford.” As Fab sings alongside the steady strumming of an acoustic guitar, he gives a profound voice to a victim’s story.
