High Five! from Timothy Monger

Timothy Monger is definitely no stranger to the Midwest rock and roll scene. Although he may be best known for fronting Great Lakes Myth Society with his brother James Monger, Timothy has more recently been focusing his efforts on his latest project, appropriately named Timothy Monger State Park, which first caught the ears of fans at Mittenfest in 2010. Somehow, in between training for the Edinburgh Marathon in Scotland and gearing up for The New Britton Sound release party at Woodruff's on June 24th, Tim found a few minutes to toss up a High Five!
1. Hardboiled & Noir Fiction
It's hard to say why I am so obsessed with this dark genre. I was led to it many years ago, after reading Ray Bradbury's 1980's detective homage Death is a Lonely Business. Raymond Chandler was my gateway author, but Ross MacDonald and Cornell Woolrich have also become some of my favorites.
This is my favorite car, I have to own one of these in my lifetime. It's got a classic design that always makes me feel a mix of wonder and jealousy when I pass one on the road.
When I leave the house I have my keys, wallet, phone...and my Moleskine notebook! These classy little hardcover notebooks have saved my life over the last several years. Lyrics, addresses, baseball schedules, drawings, philosophies, travel info, and more fill up my books. I usually buy a new one every ten months or so.
4. Short's Hanging Frank IPA
Although I think the overly hoppy IPA phenomenon has gotten a bit out of hand in recent years, I will go out of my way to find this amazing craft beer from Short's Brewery in Bellaire, MI. It's like sunlight in a bottle.
There are very few musicians whose careers I have consistently followed, but Robyn Hitchcock is one of them. The man is always original, insanely prolific, charmingly bizarre and wonderfully British. He's had the type of career I would most like to follow.

I’m with you on the moleskin notebook. Lauren gave me a nice one for Xmas and I managed to fill it completely within two months. A new one is definitely in order.
