Getaway Dogs Announces Single, "Papersoul II"
The single from Getaway Dogs surfs a sun-kissed wave of atmospheric guitar chords and shimmering vocal harmonies. “Papersoul II” has a simple message of not selling one’s soul and focusing more on spiritual health. The song ebbs and flows like a dreamy cloud floating into the existential ether of the world. A reissue from their 2016 album Lost In The Ebb, the newly recorded song was redone to convey the energy and soul of the band’s live performance to put the listener front and center. It kicks off the Getaway Dogs Pacific Northwest tour.
“Papersoul II” is a soulful and psychedelic cocktail that bubbles over with a calming aroma. Its chords melt around the song’s skeletal structure until they are fragmented into a kaleidoscope of color. An almost arpeggiated progression paints a picture in various shades of sunset. Much of the music was inspired by the seafoam home in which the band resides. Singer and guitarist Kai Killion explains, “Our location heavily influences us. It is a coastal enclave, a surfing mecca located at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountain Range. I often write music according to how often I’m surfing. It’s a cathartic activity that provides me with inspiration and a sense of smallness in a beautiful world.”
