Getaway Dogs Announces Single, “Excuses/Opinions II”
The single from Getaway Dogs ebbs and flows like a shimmering ocean wave crashing against a kaleidoscope skyline. “Excuses/Opinions II” floats into the carefree layers of atmosphere with ethereal harmonies, shimmering guitar, and a wandering bass line. A reissue from their 2016 album Lost In The Ebb, the newly recorded song was redone to convey the energy and soul of the band’s live performance to put the listener front and center.
“Excuses/Opinions II” paints with a psychedelic pallet ranging in colors of jazz, hip-hop, and Brazilian finger-picking. The colors stretch the canvas while singer and guitarist Kai Killion sings in an inviting cadence. Since much of the music was inspired by the seafoam home in which the band resides, the bubbling coastal influences can be felt through each note. Accents of synth complement the melody and add a final layer to the finished product. It’s easy to imagine driving past a hidden reef to a surf mecca while the music flows in to mix with the sand.
