Bonsai Offers Free MP3 "I Like You Man"
Brooklyn’s Bonsai breaks through the white noise of the trivialities and urgencies of everyday life with a free download of her cheeky indie folk single, “I Like You Man”, in support of a November Monday night residency at New York City venue, Pete’s Candy Shop.
Bonsai’s songstress, Simone Stevens says of the song, “I live in NYC and it is filled with men and women consumed with careers or art. In the craziness if you meet someone who genuinely makes you forget city weariness for a minute you really cherish it.”
“I Like You Man” jangles, sizzles and pops like the sweet uplifting buzz felt in the early stages of meeting someone incredible. Innocently strumming her way through “I Like You Man”, Bonsai blasts through an upbeat energy that is seemingly a contained intensity that subsides through a fully-realized melancholy lyricism by song’s end. The tone of the song is epitomized in the lyric: “I’ve never heard you laugh out loud. That’s a scary thing ‘cause laughter is the nectar of the Gods, they gave it to us as a gift. But I still like you man.”
